Research Description:
A Dictyostelium discoideum genetic approach was used to clone the sphingosine+ phosphate lyase gene, which encodes the enzyme that catalyses sphingosine-1-phosphate degradation. Current research is focused on overexpression of the gene to study the relationship between sphingolipids metabolism and the resistance fo anticancer drugs in multicellular slime mold.
